Toyota teams up with Hyundai and Ampol for more hydrogen stations after dissing Evs.

Major auto brands Toyota and Hyundai have partnered with Ampol and Pacific Energy to expand the number of hydrogen refuelling stations in Australia. The move by Toyota comes just days after the company repeated its disdain for electric vehicles, saying they were not suitable for Australian roads, sparking outrage from Tesla and the EV industry. Toyota and Hyundai are the only companies to have released hydrogen fuel-cell cars in Australia – the Mirai sedan and NEXO SUV – which have had limited adoption due to the lack of refuelling options. https://thedriven.io/2023/11/01/toyota-teams-up-with-hyundai-and-ampol-for-more-hydrogen-stations-after-dissing-evs/

Change should not be about playing dirty. Everyone trying to be cleaner and better for the environment should be celebrated. Hydrogen is not a panacea and can be a volatile greenhouse accelerator if released into the atmosphere. Hydrogen needs to be treated carefully if it has a role to play as a green fuel. Toyota does not care.

I think if clients have reliable charging points, and all their fears are cleared concerning the EVs they will embrace the transition.

Companies of their magnitude coming together to invest in hydrogen refuelling stations is really impressive and shows good intentions for climate

Collaboration for hydrogen refuelling stations is a positive step, but embracing diverse clean energy options should be the goal for a sustainable future

This is a positive step towards promoting the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. However, it is disappointing to hear that Toyota has been dissing EVs (electric vehicles) as both technologies have their own benefits and can coexist in the market. It is important for automakers to focus on reducing emissions and promoting sustainable transportation options rather than competing against each other.
