The Canadian start-up Canadian Taiga has created electric snowmobiles and battery-powered personal watercraft (jet skis) and revolutionises outdoor exploration with emission-free alternatives. Taiga's mission is to electrify the most challenging vehicle segment and change the way we engage with the outdoors. They have developed Ekko, Atlas and Nomad, three different types of snowmobiles and Orca one personal watercraft that are already being commercialised The environmental benefits are potentially significant. Unlike cars and trucks, outboard motors do not usually have catalytic converters to reduce harmful emissions. They are noisy, and they often use lower-quality fuel so electric options have a lot of positive impacts. Taiga is also developing a large off-road charging network, it's aiming to electrify 75,000 off-road km with roughly 1,100 charging stations by 2025.
