County government of Kajiado (my home county) to insure 20,000 livestock farmers, with support from the World Bank, in a bid to cushion the farmers from the vagaries of prolonged drought. Ten thousand others, who are capable to insure their livestock, will get subsided premiums, Governor Joseph ole Lenku said at a press conference in his office today. The exercise has been clustered into eight zones; Iloodokilani, Kaputiei, Keekonyokie, Kuku, Matapato, Merrueshi, Olgulului and Olkeriai.

This is very important bearing in mind the loss that these farmers have incurred as a result of the prolonged drought. They have lost their livestock which is the source of their live hoods. Some form of insurance would be a sigh of relief.

I do really support this program but my own opinion would be to also provide ways that will make both human and livestock survive even in dry seasons...#adequate water#
