Pixel Planet Today's post

We spent all of last week attending Climate Week NYC - a showcase of events featuring climate talks, panels, interactive exhibitions, and so much more. As climate nerds, we were in the best of company, and we learned a lot, too. Because of pesky caption limits, we have to keep it short, but let us know if you'd be interested and we'll make a full blog post about it too. 😊
🌎 In order to meet climate targets, many have looked to electric vehicles. Electric cars get a lot of the attention, but micromobility options (think e-bikes and scooters) are booming. Though they're not meant for long trips, these options also take on other issues like traffic congestion, equitable transit, and parking footprints. Plus, they take way less resources to produce! Win-win-win-win.
🌎 Cities are where most of us live, so it's no surprise that they are also some of the biggest sources of carbon emissions. However, more than 700 large cities around the world have committed to halving their emissions by 2030 (California and New York states have legal implications if they don't).
🌎 Climate solutions have a hard time getting anywhere without funding. It's hypocritical for climate-centered companies to take money from big oil - but in reality, it's how a lot of investment funds have come to be. An estimated 25% of climate funds come from oil and gas, either directly or indirectly, and whether founders know it or not. It's a classic rock-and-a-hard-place conundrum, and a great example of why transparency is everything.
