🔎 What do you watch out for during start-up pitches?
🌱 Soul of a winner: What is the founder’s inner motivation? How persistent but also responsive, confident and humble are they? Is the founder authentic and are their actions in line with their story?
🌱 Customer pain: What and how big is the customer pain the start-up addresses – i.e. which problem are they solving? What will the customers be willing to pay for their solution? Is the market big enough?
🌱 Vision: What is the long-term vision of the company and what is the long-term sustainable business model?
🌱 Constellation for success: Is the founder surrounding themselves with key hires (even at the C-Level) who share the same vision and values of the company?
🌱 Structure: Are key arguments and information presented in a logical sequence?
🌱 Time management: Does the founder start and finish in time, or is at least able to convey the essence of their business, where they are heading to and their vision?
❌ What is a red flag, when considering investing in a start-up?
a. Founder taking a constructive feedback too personally
b. Founder sharing their capacity between the start-up and some other ventures
c. Sole-founder situation
d. Internal investors not investing in the round (or even exiting)
e. Significant share of strategic investors early on in the start-up life cycle or no real institutional investors around the table yet but only angels, government funded investment vehicles, corporates (this is more applicable for Series A and B rounds)
