Toyota makes solid-state breakthrough in broader battery evolution

Image of post in post detailed view

Toyota has recently announced the development of solid-state batteries for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), which are expected to offer significant benefits over traditional gel-based electrolyte batteries. The new batteries are anticipated to be safer, more stable, and offer faster charging times of less than 10 minutes for a 10-80% state of charge. Toyota plans to focus on BEVs instead of hybrids and expects to sell 1.7 million of the 3.5 million BEVs it expects to sell globally by 2030 with these next-generation batteries. Additionally, Toyota has developed a range of advanced liquid-electrolyte batteries that improve performance, range, and fast charging while reducing weight and improving aerodynamics.

I love the durability part of it, because right now we can't afford things that things that don't last long... Good job to Toyota.

Toyota's development of solid-state batteries for BEVs is a significant step towards sustainable transportation. The anticipated benefits, such as safer and more stable batteries with faster charging times, will not only improve the driving experience but also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Toyota's focus on BEVs is a positive move, and the expected sales figures by 2030 highlight the potential impact of this technology. The development of advanced liquid-electrolyte batteries also demonstrates Toyota's commitment to innovation and sustainability, which is commendable.
