In 2017, Henkel became the first major global consumer goods company to work with the social enterprise Plastic Bank. They are addressing both environmental and social challenges to reduce plastic waste. This partnership initiative of Henkel tackles the plastic problem and poverty as people living in coastal areas collect the plastic (stopping it from entering oceans) and trade it for money at the Plastic Bank. This initiative also makes it possible for Henkel to achieve its environmental targets like: 1. Make all packaging recyclable or reusable. 2. Reducing its reliance on plastic-based plastic by half. 3. Achieving zero waste in nature. Read: https://www.henkel.com/sustainability/sustainable-packaging/plastic-bank-partnership

We cannot solve today’s challenges alone. Plastic Bank turns waste into value by preventing plastic waste from reaching the oceans – all while alleviating poverty in local communities. We are proud to partner with such an impactful organization!

Absolutely, developing solutions that are profitable and environmentally conscious is crucial. The more companies that spearhead these solutions and prove successful, the better. Equally important is developing new marketing strategies that take off globally. For decades, we have lived with a "bigger is better" marketing approach. Interestingly, packaging has become bigger, while contents contained inside have been reduced. An absolute scam and shamefully wasteful. It's time we took the approach of "good things come in small packages" and minimalist packaging (no need for a half empty tube inside plastic, inside a box). It's time for companies to have full capacity and full disclosure packaging, meaning contents can be seen, where possible, and a list of materials used in the packaging is displayed (just as a list of ingredients is currently listed) and the packaging FITS the contents included. Imagine the cupboard space, let alone a major reduction in garbage waste! Furthermore, imagine the cost savings for companies reduce their packaging by half or a third. Companies should consider vacuum sealing their products or using evironmentally safe stamping methods in place of paper or plastic labels. Many companies are returning to bulk size bottles with refill stations. Countless solutions that reduce cost, are successfully marketed, gaining popularity and have become profitable. I guarantee if these changes were implemented globally, we'd be well on our way to achieving our goals for 2030, 2050. Last, but certainly not least, we need governments on board. Regulations that are truly enforced and regulated. Good start for Henkel. Next steps will be to make the contents of their products environmentally sound. Check out Attitude of Quebec, Canada

99% of ALL Materials Are 100% Recyclable/Reusabe. The Only 1% Is Medical Waste Which MUST Be Incinerated For Both Health/Safety Purposes As Mr. Tom Szaky Explained In This Particular 2017 WBUR Radio Interview With Jeremy Hobson - 'Why Isn't More Waste Recycled?’: http://wbur.fm/2n7uy7e (WBUR Interview With Tom Szaky, Chief Executive Officer of TerraCycle, Inc., Based In Trenton, New Jersey) (Interviewed By Jeremy Hobson In April of 2017)

Great solution it is estimated that only 9% of world's plastic is recycled and the rest is disposed to the natural environment. I believe with such solutions it will go a long way to reduce the adverse effects of the use of plastics.

Great solutions; Recycling. We already have MPs' emissions from plastic waste thats lying around, each plastic will eventually end up getting degraded into MPs'...then why not put it to some good use instead of letting it go waste.
