¡Hello everyone! My name is Laura Restrepo Alameda, Colombia Focal Point for the 17th Global Conference of Youth for Climate Justice (COY17 or 17th Conference of Youth); the most important annual event of youth working tirelessly to address the consequences of Climate Change. It will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 2-4. This is a space created by the UNFCCC and YOUNGO managed by local organizations; a pre-COP27 (Conference of the Parties or Conference of Parts) event that seeks to elevate local voices to global demands during the negotiations. Colombia for the first time has a diverse representation, with people who have been working for years, creating solutions and strategies so that the country and the region can have greater participation in these spaces. This allows other countries to know the local reality, and thus propose goals and projects that directly benefit the people with whom each of us works and promotes. The opportunities in these spaces are a benefit both for the person in the delegation, for the sponsors and for the communities. I am contacting this network to find a space of half an hour, between today and tomorrow, to meet and better tell people or organizations that are interested in funding or supporting this great opportunity, who are part of this delegation and what are the benefits we offer to organizations, companies and entities that will make Colombia a reality with diverse youth voices in COY17 and COP27. We know we are on time and therefore the urgency of a prompt meeting. We have multiple benefits that can be local, regional and/or global. We are also open, as a team, to explore other possibilities to be considered by the sponsor. Our priority at this point is to get the delegation to the space, as we already have lodging and food confirmed for all the people who will be in the COY17 space. We would also like to explore opportunities for collaboration towards a future that will allow Colombia to be an example of participation and collaboration among all sectors of society to build a future full of opportunities and hope. This future collaboration is a new project in which we are working to create a Colombian Children and Youth Movement from civil society to increase the articulation and incidence of children and youth in national and international spaces. COP27 and COY17 become highly relevant spaces for the movement in the positioning and creation of relationships to ensure its success. I look forward to building a long-term path with you, organizations, and individuals committed to social transformation.
