Reaches deal banning ‘climate-neutral’ product claims

In March 2022, the European Commission proposed a law to empower consumers, which, following the conclusion of negotiations between EU countries and Parliament, will now ban companies from claiming that their products are climate-neutral. “We have achieved an excellent deal for consumers,” said the Socialists & Democrats’ Biljana Borzan, a Croatian EU lawmaker who spearheaded the negotiations on behalf of Parliament. https://www.edie.net/eu-reaches-deal-banning-climate-neutral-product-claims/

The deal banning 'climate-neutral' product claims is a significant step towards preventing greenwashing and ensuring transparency in the market. It will empower consumers to make informed choices and hold companies accountable for their environmental impact. The efforts of the European Commission and the Parliament, as well as the leadership of Biljana Borzan, are commendable in this regard.

A significant step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in environmental marketing. Banning misleading "climate-neutral" claims will help consumers make more informed choices and encourage companies to genuinely reduce their carbon footprint rather than relying on greenwashing
