Following the most recent Future Food Forum 2022 in Dubai, UAE, Sandrine Duquerroy-Delesalle, Director, Sustainability & External Affairs, Crown Bevcan EMEA, talks about the shift in consumer preferences toward metal packaging and the role MENA’s food and beverage manufacturers can play in increasing the format’s recycling rates.
With its infinite recyclability, metal can be used again and again with no degradation in quality, making it important to ensure all metal packaging is recycled correctly. We know that educating consumers and improving recycling infrastructure takes accountability from all members of the value chain, and we believe leveraging the power of partnerships allows industry players to drive positive change. To this end, we are supporting grassroot organizations, such as Every Can Counts–a multi-country initiative to promote the recyclability of metal cans among consumers.
The Middle East and North Africa are among the places in the world most vulnerable to climate change. By working together to decrease the region’s environmental footprint and secure long-term business success, MENA producers can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
