Micronesia is the 14th country to endorse the Fossil Fuel Treaty at the UN General Assembly

On September 26, 2024, the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) became the 14th nation to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty at the UN General Assembly. 👏 This initiative that aims to phase out oil, gas, and coal globally and ensure a fair energy transition resonates with the particularly vulnerable island nations, and Micronesia joins others such as Tuvalu, Fiji or the Marshall Islands.
During his speech at the general debate of the 79th UN General Assembly, President Wesley Simina of FSM highlighted the urgent need for climate action, especially for vulnerable island nations facing rising sea levels and extreme weather. FSM’s endorsement strengthens the Pacific's climate advocacy leadership, calling for an end to fossil fuel expansion ahead of COP31.

I look forward to a world where fossil fuels will be faced out and the world will be 100% dependent on green energy.
