NEMA issues warnings against garbage dumping to protect environment
The National Environment Management Authority (Nema) has issued a warning to traders and locals against dumping of garbage in major towns and market centres.
Some trading centres like Mbale, Majengo and Chavakali have reported increased cases of garbage dumping along the streets.
The Authority has now rolled out a drive to sensitise the locals on responsible waste disposal after complaints that the towns have been experiencing flooding due to blockage of the drainage system by garbage.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/environment-climate/article/2001484359/nema-issues-warning-on-dumping-in-urban-centres

Dumping garbage not only pollutes the land and water but also poses a threat to wildlife and human health. It's important for individuals and communities to be aware of the consequences of their actions and to dispose of their waste responsibly. By raising awareness and enforcing regulations, NEMA is taking a step in the right direction towards creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
