The European Union (EU) has introduced the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (#CBAM) to combat carbon emissions and level the playing field for European businesses. This mechanism aims to price greenhouse gas emissions associated with imports compared to products produced within the EU. It also ensures that domestic manufacturers have equal competitive opportunities concerning greenhouse gas costs compared to their counterparts in non-EU countries. 💨

When I first heard about the CBAM last year, I immediately saw it as a huge step to achieve greenhouse gas reductions across the world. The EU is such a massive market so seeing them take the opportunity to affect other areas is really encouraging. I hope it has the intended effect and makes carbon pricing a global phenomenon!

This might increase prices for products in the long run as costs will be transferred to the consumers

Very insightful thank you! Do you think this will have repercussions at the consumer level and when will we start to witness them?
