Soaring oil prices, a direct consequence of the #energycrisis has us all worried about our heating and electricity bills. Here is how the German government plans to cushion the economic blow for energy companies and consumers: 📉 The German government has lowered sales tax on oil from 19% to 7%, a move that the European Commission had previously refuted. 📅 The reduced tax rate will apply as long as the increased tariffs will be charged, which have been imposed from 1 October. 💶 Germany has also agreed a €15bn bailout of Uniper, its largest oil purchaser. 🚄 From price freezes to cheap public transport, countries are turning to a variety of measures to reduce costs. German states will be introducing a €49 monthly ticket, valid on public and regional transport.
