ExxonMobil acquires more than 271,000 acres in Texas waters for offshore carbon capture.

ExxonMobil has secured more than 271,000 acres in Texas waters to develop offshore carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) projects. This acquisition is part of the company's broader strategy to advance carbon capture as a key solution in addressing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The underwater storage sites will be used to capture CO2 from industrial sources, transport it, and then store it deep beneath the seabed, preventing its release into the atmosphere.
The move aligns with ExxonMobil's commitment to expanding its low-carbon initiatives and supporting global efforts to decarbonize heavy industries. Offshore CCS has significant potential due to its ability to store large volumes of CO2, and Texas offers a prime location with its extensive infrastructure and proximity to large industrial emitters. By tapping into offshore storage, ExxonMobil is positioning itself at the forefront of the CCS market, which is seen as crucial for achieving net-zero emissions targets.

This is greenwashing Exxon are using "carbon capture " as a guise. I'm very sceptical of Exxon ventures- I beg to be proven wrong on this.

Why wouldn't they invest in offshore wind firms that would generate renewable energy? Meaning they won't shift to renewable energy!!
