Black Star is a French company specializing in the manufacture of reconditioned tires 🚙
Each year in Europe, 220 million tires are assembled and disassembled. This means about 6 million tons of CO2 each year to produce them! The problem? We change tires (too) often and throw the old ones away...
It is an issue Black Star aims to solve! Black Star is promoting a circular economy and reusing old tires that they recondition. Retreading allows for the recycling of worn tires whose support has remained in good shape. The tread and sidewalls are replaced using a specific industrial process and technology to give them a new life without affecting their safety and efficiency.
According to their website, they save each year 520 tons of rubber and 260 tons of metal, which represents 4810 tons of CO2 avoided!
Wouldn't this be a good solution that car companies (👀) could use to reduce their impact on our planet?
