Did you know that on average, only 3 to 7% of tennis balls are re-utilised for different purposes before being thrown away? This means that over 300 million tennis balls end up in landfills every year, where they take more than 400 years to decompose! This has huge environmental impacts, and yet, very little is done about it.

This is where Mathilde Wittock and her company MWO Design step in: This Belgian eco-designer transforms discarded tennis balls into sound-absorbing material called "Soundbounce". She repurposes discarded tennis balls into sensory design elements, including wall paneling, furniture, and acoustic partitions. Each square meter of Soundbounce incorporates approximately 283 tennis balls, upcycling the equivalent of 8.5 kg of CO2.
