Rights groups petition European watchdog to secure clean water in French Caribbean.

The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) has filed a complaint with a European rights body, urging France to provide access to drinking water in Guadeloupe. Water shortages in the Caribbean territory are attributed to inadequate infrastructure and contamination from a toxic pesticide used in banana plantations for many years.

Water is a basic need and we can not live without it, and Guadeloupe should not be deprived access to clean water

Water is a basic necessity to every living thing ... depriving residents of clean water is an issue that should be solved urgently by the relevant government.

Guadeloupe deserves clean water! Disgraceful that rights groups need to petition for basic necessities. France must address infrastructure issues & contamination caused by pesticides.
