Climate warning

A fossil-fuel promoting agency that Biden seems powerless to stop.

The U.S. Export-Import Bank, often called EXIM, is a government body that helps American companies sell their goods and services overseas. But recently, it's been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Despite President Joe Biden's promises to fight climate change, EXIM is still funding projects that harm the environment.
Picture this: EXIM is like a big bank, but instead of giving loans to regular people, it gives loans to companies that want to do business abroad. Sounds okay, right? Well, here's the catch: some of the projects EXIM is financing involve drilling for oil and gas in other countries. That's not good for the planet because burning fossil fuels like oil and gas releases harmful greenhouse gases into the air, making climate change worse.Even though Biden wants to move away from fossil fuels and towards cleaner energy sources like solar and wind power, EXIM seems to have a mind of its own. It's like Biden's hands are tied – he can't seem to stop EXIM from funding these harmful projects.
Inside EXIM, there's a group called the Climate Council. Their job is to advise EXIM on how to be more climate-friendly. They've been raising concerns about EXIM's fossil fuel investments, saying it goes against Biden's plans. But EXIM doesn't seem to be listening. It's almost like they have their own agenda. One project that's causing a lot of controversy is in Bahrain, where EXIM is helping to drill for more oil and gas. This is happening at a time when the world is trying to move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy. It's like EXIM didn't get the memo.
People are frustrated. They feel like EXIM is going against the tide of progress. Biden himself has spoken out against some of EXIM's decisions, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. EXIM keeps on doing what it wants, regardless of the consequences for the planet. Some folks are calling EXIM a "fossil-fuel-promoting agency." That's because instead of helping to build a greener, cleaner future, it's stuck in the past, propping up industries that are harmful to the environment. But there's hope. Some people are pushing for change. They want EXIM to stop funding fossil fuel projects and start investing in clean energy instead. They believe that by working together, we can build a better world for ourselves and for future generations. So, while EXIM may seem like a powerful force, there are voices speaking out against it. With enough pressure, maybe EXIM will finally listen and change its ways. After all, when it comes to saving the planet, there's no time to waste.

It's frustrating to see fossil fuel interests continue to hold sway despite efforts to transition to cleaner energy sources. It underscores the challenges in enacting meaningful change in the face of entrenched industries and political obstacles.

These are the financial institutions funding our Doon through the fossil fuel industry. The only way to stop such organisations is through control and movement from fossil power to renewable energy

This is alarming! why does EXIM funds those companies yet having knowledge on what they are doing! Don't they know how they jeopardize the lives of many? A huge shame to EXIM.

@chris_ndungu It's indeed alarming and disappointing that EXIM funds companies involved in activities harmful to the environment and public health, despite being aware of the consequences.

This is so heartbreaking. EXIM should be stopped by collective effort, by shifting our funds to a responsible banking institution.
