Day 638: April 8th, 2021. Alligators, sharks, and bears may have some scary qualities, but when it comes to statistics, the animals you should be more worried about - cows. . Fact: Cows kill more people in the United States annually than sharks, bears, or alligators do combined. Sharks and alligators only kill an American once every year and a half or so, and bears only kill one or two people a year. But cows - on average, kill about 20 people in the United States every year. Don't let the fear factor of large predators scare you out of animal conservation, there are much scarier animals out there (maybe in your own backyard). . . Great post! Actually we are killing ourselves by choosing to eat cows. Not to mention that choosing to eat cows also greatly contributes to deforestation, water consumption and pollution, more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones.”

Thanks Joel! I couldn't have said it better: not only are cows more deadly than sharks, mountain lions, and many other apex predators, they are also at the root of so many other crises we face.
