The price of air travel is soaring This is a good development for the Planet Earth, however not good enough to get people and businesses to change their travel habits to curb the usage of fossil fuels and save our planet. The price of air travel globally has risen twice as much as inflation in the United States, reports the Financial Times with reference to a survey by the flight analysis company Cirius. The average price on over 600 of the world's most popular flight routes rose by 27.4 percent year-on-year in February (which is the latest data available). By then, flight prices had risen by double digits for fifteen months in a row, according to the FT. Prices are also higher than before the pandemic. For example, the price of flights from Heathrow in London to Newark in New York has risen by 23 percent compared to 2019. High demand in combination with various delays from the pandemic is, among other things, behind the price rush.

People keep talking about the "cost of living crisis " and booking a holiday at the same time. There are a few people genuinely suffering but many are just used to a certain lifestyle of jetting off for numerous city breaks and a family holiday every year. We need to reduce our flying and make it special to go abroad again. .

@lucinda_ramsay Back in the 90's an airline ticket from Stockholm to Frankfurt used to be roundish 600-700€ and that is 30 years agree, it needs to be significantly more expensive and thus for select special events
