RESTORATION OF A ONCE VAST RAINFALL FOREST COVER.

As we mark world rainforest day,I'm glad to be upfront in this celebrations and most importantly to acknowledge efforts put forward by the ministry of environment and forestry in my lovely home country Kenya for the rehabilitation of a once heavily endowed indigenous thick forest cover that once stretched for miles across countries-the Kakamega forest which is situtated northwest of the capital Nairobi, and near to the border with Uganda. It is Kenya's only tropical rainforest and is said to be Kenya's last remnant of the ancient Guineo-Congolian rainforest that once spanned the continent. Human encroachment for interests such as urbanization, farming and settlement due to the high rate in growth and development saw the vast forest empire worn out but the government has recently stepped up efforts to restore it gluesomely by conducting evictions over a couple of years now. I praise the effort and how I'ld love to see all forest reserves recovered whatever the cost it'ld be at.it's in the long run for the best interest of the citizens but it must come at a prize and a huge cost. http://www.environment.go.ke/?p=6844 https://rainforests.mongabay.com/20kenya.htm
