Slovenia Achieved EU Renewable Energy Target for 2023

Slovenia achieved its 2023 goal of having 25% of its gross final energy consumption sourced from renewables, as reported by the national statistical office. The renewable share reached 25.07%, a slight increase from 2022, with the electricity sector seeing a significant rise to 41.89% due to a notable 52.48% boost in solar power. In transport, the renewable share climbed to 10.02%, while heating and cooling saw a modest increase to 34.30%. Overall, Slovenia's domestic energy production grew by 7%, with renewables accounting for nearly 36% of the energy mix.

This progress highlights Slovenia's commitment to enhancing its renewable energy infrastructure and reducing dependency on fossil fuels. As the country continues to invest in sustainable energy sources, it sets an example for others in the region, demonstrating that a transition to greener energy is both achievable and beneficial for energy security.
