Wildfires Destroying Zagros Forests in Eastern Kurdistan, Iran 🔥

The Zagros forests in Eastern Kurdistan, Iran, are being destroyed by wildfires. The sounds of animals trapped in the flames, birds leaving their nests and thousands of trees burning are heartbreaking.
Sadly, this was not the first time and it is not going to be the last time!
The Zagros forests cover 11 provinces in Iran and are home to 10 million people. They support half of the country’s livestock and provide 40% of Iran’s fresh water.
For the past two weeks, more than 200 hectares of the forests have been experiencing wildfires. No official plans to stop the fires have been made. Instead, local volunteers are risking their lives to fight the flames.
