IHCL’s Focus On 50% Renewable Energy By 2030; Introduces Green Initiatives

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), one of India’s largest hospitality groups, reinforced its commitment to sustainable tourism through initiatives focused on green energy, water conservation, and community support. Guided by its ESG+ framework, Paathya, IHCL continues to champion responsible tourism by fostering inclusivity and supporting local economies.
As part of its environmental efforts, IHCL has adopted renewable energy, utilising wind and solar power at several properties. Currently, 43 hotels run entirely on green energy, with 37 per cent of the company’s electricity sourced from renewables—a figure IHCL aims to raise to 50 per cent by 2030. The company has also implemented water conservation strategies, recycling 48 per cent of wastewater and creating water management plans for properties in drought-prone areas. IHCL has eliminated single-use plastics, introduced eco-friendly packaging, and set up 343 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 146 locations across India. It is great to see IHCL's commitment to renewable energy & sustainability! However, achieving 50% renewable energy by 2030 seems ambitious—ensuring effective implementation will be key.
