ITALY WILL SPEND OVER 11 MILLION USD TO ADDRESS THE EFFECTS OF EXTREME HEAT AND WILD FIRES.

This message from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, should be like a wake up call to all leaders all over the world that every leader and their country must take collective measures that will combat the effects of #ClimateCrisis and we are all short of time and We Don't Have Time to wait, failure to that their governments will coughing deeper in the pockets, trying to salvage the effects of extreme climate events.
That's a great mechanism step that Italian government has taken to save their citizens and tourists. But how painful it will be to the developing countries that may lack that potential? And still what if effects continue being more huge and devastating in future, once again i can only say we need to #Act and bring all measures that will save the planet.

Is it possible to channel the resources to the causes of the issues?

11 million USD is literally nothing in the budget of Italy and they come too late. Why not try to tackle the cause of climate change instead of its terrible consequences? The extreme right leader Giorgia Meloni is treating environmental action as a nationalist issue and not as something that we globally need to tackle, she pretends to be a climate leader but she has criticised the EU Green Deal and named it "climate fundamentalism", she is pushing for more "natural" gas, and she also has no real plan to reach the 2030 emissions reduction targets

@sarah_chabane I wish this could be a wake up call to her mandates and more so for the sake of Italy people. And plans for the EU. All leaders must have a guiding plan toward reduction of Emissions. Thank you for highlighting those points and letting us know. She should do better then!

11 million USD is a too small sum, a joke almost. But it’s in the right direction. 👏

@rosebellendiritu yes, it's peanut. Italy spent $30.3 billion in 2023 on military spending.

This should be like "hit nail at head to all leaders". Am wondering which more signs are we waiting as a country to act more aggressively towards the issue to do with climate change all over?

Meloni is all about the effects of climate change not the causes. Hopefully she and her government will also work toward lowering emissions and transitioning to more renewable energy.
