Help UoH practise what they teach

Universities do environmental science and produce knowledge, but oftentimes don't act as if it is real. In Sweden, they are among the worst emitters of government agencies. If they won't adapt to the demands clearly stated by their own scientific evidence, how can they except other to? It's time we change that. Climate Students is a movement and a network of students who have mobilised to transform the unsustainable ways of our universities. As scientists, scholars and intellectual authorities, they are key actors in the struggle to save our future. It's time for them to act. We, their students, can make that happen by combining our voices, skills and energy. Our goal is to make them start taking their own science seriously and help them reduce their emission. By doing so, they will send a strong signal to the rest of society to do the same. Last October, a small group of students at SLU, in Uppsala, called out to students all over Sweden to mobilize. After less than three months we had Climate Students groups at ten universities. And more are joining in. Now we call out to students all over the world. We are in a crisis and everyone must act. We choose to dig where we stand. Students of the University of Helsinki, we call upon you to mobilize and give life to our movement in your country. You will form local groups, dedicated to transforming the ways of a specifik university, and together they will form the national union, Climate Students Finland. We are here to guide you every step of the way. Contact us at international@climatestudents.com. Together we will form a global movement and help our universities practise what they teach. Agree to this campaign if you want to see the students of Finland join the Climate Students movement. #PracticeWhatYouTeach Photo by Folke Bosund

You are absolutely right! I just learned that e.g. Chalmers' emissions derive from their employees' air traffic (~95%). And professors who teach Meteorology and Climate Change at GU fly around the world every week.

Indeed! Aviation is extremely important to lower emissions from universities.

This is insane but probably true for most Universities not only Chalmers.
