Parking rates based on ecological and social criteria?
The French city of Lyon will introduce progressive parking rates, based on ecological and social criteria, in 2024, meaning that owners of large, more polluting cars will pay more!
How will it work? Well, the "poorest" households and people with more "eco-friendly" vehicles will pay 15 euros per month, while people with SUVs (heavy and polluting vehicles) will pay 45 euros per month.
What do you think of this law?
I personally think it will work as a great incentive to transition to less polluting vehicles or even to not using cars!

The imposition of such penal measures could trigger reliance on guzzler vehicles and if well adhered to it could thus prove to be a blueprint to an involuntary phase out fossil fuel cars in France and similarly across the globe

If you can afford a guzzler, you can certainly afford the rates. Way to go Lyon
