UK should press pause on deep-sea mining

The Labour party has said the UK should back the call for a precautionary pause on deep-sea mining, ahead of a crucial meeting of nations in Jamaica to decide the future of the industry. David Lammy, the shadow foreign secretary, said the Labour party was adding its voice to a growing list of countries and businesses urging that moves to start mining be halted “until and unless” there was clear scientific evidence that it could be done safely and the marine environment would be protected by new regulations. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jul/10/labour-backs-global-pause-deep-sea-mining-david-lammy-international-seabed-authority

@rukia_ahmed_abdi Damage caused by deep-sea mining would be extensive and irreversible.

I read in another review here that there was "temporary ban"I would suggest permanent ban on this...they should not press pause but they should press stop!

Fossil fuels should be a story of the past if we all collaborated in this mission of reducing carbon print

I agree... Deep sea mining endangers the marine life causing an imbalance in the ecosystems

@edwin_wangombe Without proper protection of the deep sea, we could destroy species and ecosystems yet to even be discovered.

The government should stop this because it's going to cause a devastating effect on aquatic animals and plants.
