JPMorgan Chase is destroying the Amazon

JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, Itaú Unibanco, Santander, and Bank of America are greenwashing their role in the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. JPMorgan Chase is the worst. Their protections apply only to UNESCO world heritage sites that cover just 2% of the Amazon and are, in any case, unlikely to be considered for oil and gas exploration. JPMorgan Chase also withdrew from the Equator Principles Association, which serves as a common baseline for institutions to manage environmental and social risks when financing projects.
