Pixel Planet Today's post

Post 839: November 26th, 2021. Super News! Portugal now joins the ranks of coal-free countries in the EU - bringing the count up to 4! Belgium, Sweden, Austria, and now Portugal, make up the collection, leading the way for the Union's greener energy future. Coming 9 years ahead of schedule - Portugal will now need to focus on their reliance on foreign fossil fuel sources (how they meet roughly 30 percent of their energy demand). The early transition also begs for regulation on privately-owned facilities, ensuring closed coal plants won't be reopened as an unsustainable biomass plant, or burn other sources. . . Read more about European coal-free countries: https://www.euronews.com/green/2021/11/22/portugal-becomes-the-fourth-eu-country-to-stop-using-coal-to-generate-electricity . Graphic shows an EU flag, but four of the stars are green instead of yellow (they're going green!). The factoid reads: "Four countries in the European Union are now coal-free." . . #coalfree #fossilfuels #coal #saynotocoal #gogreen #greenenergy #sustainableenergy #renewableenergy #pixelplanet #pixelplanettoday #pixelart #planetfacts #artivism #climatedesign

So if a country's flag is doesn't turn green, it means there is lot of work to be done to change the change the colour from yellow to green and so those with yellow should speed up their actions to join the green flags

The idea of flags changing colours is awesome atleast a quarter of flags is representing green energy!

Yes, but we have 27 countries in EU, so the proportion here looks way too optimistic and some countries like Poland would deserve a black star / dot

@david_bitnar Thank you for appreciating the design Patrick 😊! But as David mentioned, the proportions in terms of number of member states is off (with pixels, I can't easily make one star for each member state and still display it in a perfect circle, so it's not a quarter of member states, but just 4). Still, with more and more member states 'turning green', hopefully we can reach a completely green circle soon though! ❤🌎
