During Happy Earth Day, we celebrated the beauty of our planet, and it was essential to reflect on the environmental challenges we face. As passionate advocates for sustainability and volunteers with Taka Kazi Africa, we believe it is crucial that we take action to protect our environment and create a better future for all.

To commemorate this special day, we decided to take action in our own community by initiating a plastic waste collection challenge within the country (#TheGreenChangeMakersPlasticCollectionChallengeinKenya). Although it was not without its challenges, we are proud to share that we successfully collected tons of sacks of plastic waste—a significant achievement for first-timers like us.

Plastic waste poses a grave threat to our planet, with far-reaching consequences for our environment. Studies suggest that by 2050, there may be more plastic in the oceans than fish if we fail to take action. The impact of plastic pollution extends beyond marine life, affecting our health and economy as well.

As Jane Goodall wisely states, "What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." Each of us possesses the power to create a positive impact on our planet. By taking small actions like collecting plastic waste and promoting recycling, we can make a significant difference in our communities.

We urge everyone reading this post to take action and ensure the proper disposal of their plastic waste. Let us all commit ourselves to reducing plastic pollution and protecting our planet for future generations. Together, we can create a cleaner and healthier environment.

Through this experience, we gained valuable skills such as effective communication, perseverance, and teamwork. These skills will undoubtedly be beneficial in our future endeavors. We are proud to be part of Taka Kazi Africa, an organization that is deeply committed to making a positive impact on our environment and communities. Susan Okoma MA-IBM, DipM ACIM's words resonate with us: "Be a Climate Doer and not a Climate Thinker" - we can proudly attest to our actions as Climate Doers!

On Earth Day, we recommitted ourselves to the cause of protecting our planet and creating a sustainable future for all. Together, we made a difference. Happy Earth Day!
