Southeast Asia's most endangered waterbird is seeing its population increase

The White-shouldered Ibis (Pseudibis davisoni) is Southeast Asia's most endangered waterbird. So what happened? The Cambodian government together with NGOs and local communities decided to take drastic measures to protect this bird. From local initiatives to look after the nests during the incubation period to the creation of the O'Yadav National Park, actions were taken, and their results are striking. In 2022, for the fourth year in a row, this waterbird's population increased. In total, 792 Pseudibis davisoni have been counted nationwide, up by 5% compared to 2021!
A good example of how conservation efforts actually have an impact!
