In a visit to Baltimore, Biden will announce $3 billion to reduce carbon emissions at US ports

President Biden's commitment to combating climate change and promoting green energy shines through with the announcement of nearly $3 billion in grants aimed at enhancing climate-friendly equipment and infrastructure at ports nationwide. This significant investment not only targets the urgent need for decarbonization but also exemplifies the administration's dedication to creating a sustainable future for America.

By allocating funds to support over 2,000 jobs at the Port of Baltimore and improving electrification across 55 sites, the Biden administration is making strides in transforming our ports into zero-emission facilities. This initiative will not only bolster the economy but also ensure cleaner air for communities historically affected by diesel pollution. As EPA Administrator Michael Regan noted, the health of our communities and the strength of our economy are intertwined; protecting the environment goes hand in hand with fostering economic growth.

These grants, made possible by the landmark climate law enacted in 2022, represent the largest investment in clean energy in U.S. history. They serve as a powerful reminder that we can transition to a sustainable future without sacrificing good-paying union jobs. As we face the climate crisis head-on, this funding will go a long way in our mission to decarbonize America, ensuring a healthier planet for generations to come.
