NEMA holds producers to account for good causing environmental pollution

The National Environment Management Authority has taken the war against pollution of the environment to producers’ doorsteps after the agency proposed fines of up to Sh5 million. Nema director of compliance Dr Ayub Macharia says the producer will now be held responsible for pollution. “Unlike in the past, when a member of the public was the only one held responsible for littering, the producers can now be held liable to demonstrate measures taken to ensure that their products and packaging do not pollute the environment,” he says. https://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2023-11-05-nema-takes-producers-to-task-for-goods-that-pollute-habitat/

This policy is likely to have a significant impact on the way that businesses operate and will encourage innovation in the development of more sustainable products and packaging

This could a long way to making producers responsible and conscious of their actions.

@rosebellendiritu I think they are doing a good job.Who would have thought Kenya could do away with plastic bags? It was impressive how they took this step seriously.
