Rolling up a strategy to speed-up transition from linear to circular economy

Businesses have urged the government to accelerate the circular economy transition. The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), the Royal Danish Embassy in Nairobi, the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Kenya, and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry addressed these issues at the Loop Forum. At the Loop Forum, Ms. Soipan Tuya, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, reaffirmed the government's commitment to turning Kenya's economy circular.
Our strategy prioritizes people, planet, and profit. Today's production must become tomorrow's useful materials. We will soon enact the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulations and update the Waste Rules 2006 to cover all garbage. The Waste Management Council and Circular Economy Strategy are ready. The circular economy intrigued Danish Ambassador to Kenya Ole Thonke. Circular economies will benefit Kenyans, Dutch, and Danish citizens, businesses, and governments. Kenya should create an inclusive environment to enable this change.
H.E. Maarten Brouwer, Dutch ambassador to Kenya, has urged manufacturers to use resources more efficiently. Kenya's problems are attributed to climate change. Circular economies are best for our future. A thriving recycling industry could create jobs. Today's discussion is timely as Kenya moves from multi-stakeholder involvement to policy creation and implementation.

This saves raw materials, the environment and reduces CO2 emissions. It stimulates innovation, new business activity and employment.
