Questions: What is the greater expense, the cost of adopting Climate friendly policies or the cost of not adopting them? Are we looking at this problem from the wrong end of the stick? What was the cost of the Camp Fire forest fire in California; material costs were 18 billion, but what of life and livelihoods? What was the cost of the Iowa/Nebraska floods of 2019? It is said the infrastructure cost was 3 billion, but what of the 20 million acres of arable farmland permanently lost across the Midwest states? What is the cost of the Surfside Condo collapse in Miami? Probably less than $100 million, but what of the 160 plus lives? How much of this disaster can we blame on Climate Change? Certainly, not all of it, but the continued incursion of salt water into the sub-structures of these multi-million dollar structures cannot bode well for the residence. Property values are already on the decline. The cost of the physical damage caused by Global Warming was estimated to be 1.3 trillion USD in 2020. Can we afford to put off the investment? Especially when this number is expected to grow exponentially. I am a novice when it comes to risk assessment, but I have a hard time believing that the superlatively capable actuaries of the insurance industries around the world couldn't come up with fairly accurate numbers regarding the future cost of climate change. Who do you think should pay those premiums? The people who are burning, or drowning, or being buried alive? Or the industries that continue to lobby governments to let them continue their future destroying ways? I have more questions, but that's a start.

“We live, produce and consume 1.7 times of Planet Earth” (Ms. Berge - VP Strategic Growth Master Card) I’m trying to do the math here and it is scary… this initiative and support should and must be carried out by the Human Race in totality and adapted by every and each Govt. this is not a joke…

Also let me welcome you to #FutureOfWork debate the data economy will wipe out more jobs than any one can imagine that include jobs of military press and politics also hehehehe now thats called Karma! when current Data economy turns every job humans are doing into Data and puts a Machine to take care of it... and humans are no longer consider an Economic resource then Current Developed Nation will face Chaos which will not be stopped by Basic Income.... ie. When poverty hits developed nations people... What talk will current climate organizations will have and how will action demanding discussion will look like? Hmmm

FYI! We are living in a Greedy Corrupt World & from my observation point of view This is our next 10 years BTW!!! Jobs will disappear hope everyone's ready cause Then #AgeOfKings will be ushered Officially and wealth accumulation will reach from 1% owning 82% to 0.1% and lesser population owning 70 to 80% global wealth hehehehehehe That's not far we are heading their with very rapid "automatic" pace ROFL! and we can not avoid it cause we need every new job created by current disaster profiteering model to develop or bring population out of poverty even if those jobs are eating future job creations hehehehe

do you believe our present profit & growth driven economic system is at the root of the climate crisis and must be changed or replaced with a new sharing and socially conscious based economic system? or is there a way to continue with the present economic system and reverse climate change and be truly sustainable as a civilization?
•

Why do general population with their hand to mouth living required to act by reducing their carbon footprint ROFL! and what footprint are you talking about?!? That is not footprint it is their livelihood and survival? Why do development of developing poor nation needs to be targeted? When we know 90 companies are causing two third of global emission also US Militarily is bigger polluter than 140 countries?
•

We currently live in world where 1% owns 82% global wealth and by circularizing their economic model can they protect their accumulated wealth?

Earthday Network 2000 listed one of our Education Model EESS Ecological Environmental Studies by Students as one of the 20 best eco-education Guides. Since 20 years of complacency, Earthday Network in 2000 is today wedonthavetime. Does it mean really we do not have time for enabling community by education? Prof JV

The funny thing about climate action related discussion is The theme is Avoid those who are polluting and causing the change and ask those who are victims to act... why is that?
•

Thank you Ingmar, on the spot. How can you engage people if you only talk about problems. There is a huge unbalance in that communication.

Right to Repair at the USA! Too little too late.

Thanks. Very good approach it seems. 20 to 25 percent energy use by internet use. What about the " Design to Fail". The hardware is failing. Right to repair Legal Act is drafted after much of the damage done. Prof JV

Question to the panel. How do you think voters that are not supporting a change agenda best can be converted towards investing in tomorrow - instead of consuming today..Is it one major action on this - or hundreds of small ones in order to win hearts and minds?
•
•
147 w
Hi everyone, could you give me top 5 action if I want to decrease my carbon footprint and could you put it in perspective if companies and government act on the climate crisis?
•

So many People lack awareness on climate change. We should all Work together to spread awareness in addressing the Climate crisis.

Question to the panel: What argument do you think is most effective in convincing politicians or business leaders to act on climate?

I am living and working near Birmingham UK and next year we host the Commonwealth Games. We are supposed to be hosting a Green Games but with actions lagging far behind the words. We would like to host a conference with young leaders and would welcome we don't have time.org to help organise this conference in July/ August 2022. Any ideas welcomed - please respond ginnie.wollaston@gmail.com

Those in power in politics and business know how to solve the climate crisis and manage the planetary boundaries, but they do not do so at the pace and ambition that we want. Why not invest more in creating engagement among ALL citizens to put pressure on companies and politicians? It is the support of the citizens they depend on. An app is one channel, but this requires commitment on a broad front. You’re all doing a great job but I think this perspective is forgotten in these types of forums.

Hi Jan-Gustav Strandenaes! (and others) You say the Stockholm conference is a golden opportunity to plan for a resilient society after a devastating pandemic, what type of decisions can be expected from the conference? Do you think it can have as much impact as cop21?

Here´s a question to Anders Wijkman: Earlier today you mentioned that a group of 5 countries Wales, Scotland, NZ and Finland have created a new way of measuring GDP. Sounds very interesting so please elaborate. Thanks

When we all work together, we can achieve what we set out to do. If everyone does their bit no matter how small the action or change is, it ends up a being massive & unstoppable climate action.
•
147 w
What do you perceive to be the greatest opportunities to "build back better and greener" post pandemic?
•

Good to see / hear this discussion. What is this group and the panelists doing to encourage and support startups who are developing breakthrough innovations? Startups like mine are constantly facing roadblocks in access to finance and market access. Corporates are busy greenwashing instead of actually partnering and supporting innovations that can address the climate crisis.

Eco-Sense is Cost Free and is a real cultural heritage of any sustainable society. Thanks. THREE QUESTIONS. Prologue: A good number of activities I am aware of. . Yet the loser is the dumb man across continents. We are angels individually but a total disaster collectively. At this rate 2030 also will pass by. Many of us will also pass away for certain. Some nation's targets are shifted to 2040 and 2050 at will and as if the global concern is a charity. POLLUTER PAYS WAS ONE DEMAND AT UNCED 1992 BUT IT WAS A WILD CRY. Can our words fail, it can! as the facts reveal. UNCED 1992 the agenda 21 is a thing of the past now. Great leaders had no money and time in 1992. Climate change, disasters, and pandemics, and Infodemics are catching up. QUESTIONS 1) Why agenda 21 compliance is not done? 2) Why there is no seriousness on UNESCO 1977 and 1989 statutory mandates on education and are not considered for national action plans.. 3) Is it ignorance or inadvertent to forget a strategy for " enabling the community to care for its environment IUCN/UNEP/WWF, 1991". It may look a bit critical, it is ! ABOUT: Prof. Jagannatha Venkataramiah, Recipient, 1992 Earth Summit Sustainable Development Library, from IIED UK, Planning Member, UN University IC MFA IBS 2000, Alumni and Mentor, International Space University 2011.2021. Formerly Scientist/Engineer ISRO, Now, Participant Infodemics management, WHO. Coordinator, People Science Forum, KRVP Unit, Mysuru www. krvp. in and www.oeliusob.com email: jagsiobbindia@gmail.com FINAL OPINION, Any cosmetic presentation of a poor Carbon "Head Print" will not do much. The majority of Communities across world are living through the global crises by default, whereas some of us are living in it as a business plan for justification of our position. All the best. Hopelessly hopeful, one may opine.
