Climate warning

Temperature crosses well over 52 degrees and we are still cutting trees!

How much hotter does it need to get? How many more people need to die? How much more heat wave destruction before the government realizes we need to do something? People are falling down and dying in hordes due to the unrelenting heat and the government still continues to include deforestation plans in and around Delhi?
The trend does not seem to be going down.
The trend does not seem to be going down.

Even the Delhi High Court has commented that if this apathy towards deforestation continues, Delhi will soon turn into a barren desert. Is that a fitting end for the capital city of India? The city has recorded a 52.3 degree celsius temperature and it is no joke! The minimum temperature at night was recorded at 33 degrees celsius. It is unthinkable to imagine how people are living without proper shelter and air conditioning, with the ones with air conditioning not really helping the climate either. The fact that the amount of hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants that the ACs produce are huge contributors to greenhouse gases is another matter altogether. So that is adding to the already hot climate. And it is not as if we do not have the answers. Look at the Colombian city of Medellín which literally turned two degrees cooler within only three years! They have shown us that there can be a balance between climate and development. If they can do it, Delhi definitely can! Urging the government to rethink their priorities and do something about the heat first, and then think of industrial growth. Learn more about the unrelenting heat in Delhi and its nearby regions:

The government's disregard for the environmental impact of deforestation is appalling.

Deforestation ought to be abolished as trees do play a very important role in ensuring that there is balance on the planet.

This behavior is worsening climate change and making extreme heat more unbearable. We urgently need to stop deforestation and focus on restoring our forests to mitigate these effects.

Deforestation is a big enemy to our planet and if it's not stopped it will led to irreversible damage

Deforestation should be considered as a threat climate and there should be rules and regulations to be adhered to.

By now people should have felt the weight of climate change and make necessary changes to make the world a better place.

it's a shame watching people cut trees regardless of the situations experienced globally

@annett_michuki A big shame indeed, they forget soil erosion can also worsen climate change because soil holds high volumes of carbon dioxide

Scary development in India and great example from Colombia. Another way is possible. Let’s choose the cooler one.

It is saddening to see deforestation still underway when heat waves are killing the people of India. This is unacceptable and the government of India must stop the cutting down of trees for the sake of the people and the environment wellness.
