This year all the sessions in Climate hub in Climate Week New York was very enrichening. It is difficult to pick and choose one out of all but one tine interview of Mr. J C Jung , climate Ambassador of ICe memory project with Nick Nuttle (12:56) minutes demands attention because of its uniqueness.
Our planetary history is stored in the ice, which was frozen long long ago. A water droplet, which was frozen ten or fifteen thousand years ago might have captured an air bubble that tells the scientists about the composition of air, when human civilization was at in its infancy. A fossil of any life form, which is surviving between two layers of ice may actually provide the missing link in evolution of our genes. All these are predicted to be washed away soon as ice are melting very fast.
Seven premiere institutes have joined hands to save parts of the ice cores at Concordia, Antartica. Ice cores shall be stored at -50 degree Centigrade in an Ice sanctuary. Such endeavours again highlight, the immediate need to curb fossil fuel burning. Gratitude to WDHT to bring this important scientific endeavour to the table.
Similar initiatives are also required in different parts of the world.
