Mercedes-Benz will be installing 2,500 high-powered chargers in the United States by 2027.
To make this happen, Mercedes-Benz is working with MN8 Energy and the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging company ChargePoint. MN8 Energy and ChargePoint will also make use of available federal subsidies to help with the scaling and building of EV chargers.
These high-powered chargers can be reserved in advance for Mercedes-Benz owners, but other electric vehicles can also utilize these charging stations. What a great way to democratize EV access!
“This is a strategic decision to put our money where our mouth is,” said Ola Källenius, the chief executive of Mercedes-Benz.
I like the practice-what-you-preach attitude by Mercedes-Benz. Plus, the decision to build high-powered charging stations will have a twofold effect on Americans - (1) it alleviates the fear of car buyers about there not being enough chargers on the US roadways, and (2) these chargers will pump 350 kilowatts per hour which is faster than most of the EV chargers found in the US.
This EV investment made by Mercedes-Benz is a climate commitment that I like to hear about!
I applaud Mercedes-Benz 👏, and I hope to see other car manufacturers follow in Mercedes-Benz's climate footsteps.

@george_kariuki they will! But they won’t start cutting down on carbon emissions until they’re out on the roads!
