This Uppsala, Sweden based company just received new funds to create prototypes of their transparent solar cells to customers! Their invention is using direct plasmonic nanoparticles to convert light into electricity. The key to the transparency of their cells is that it can produce electricity even when very little light is intercepted. Effective methods to make transparent surfaces and windows to harness the energy from light has huge application. Technologies like this is important for how we can start designing smart and energy efficient buildings, and city’s. Thank you for noticing and highlighting that we do! We hope that our technology will replace single-use batteries and extend the lifetime of electronic devices by making them self-powered. By adding the value of aesthetics and design we believe that digitalisation will be more widely embraced to optimise and reduce energy consumption.
