Indonesia is Expanding it's Nickel Industry, But is it Worth the Harm Done in the Process?

The alarming expansion of Indonesia's nickel industry is posing a severe threat to the rights of indigenous communities. The report underscores the negative impact on these communities, emphasizing the environmental and social consequences of unchecked growth in the nickel sector.
The disappointment stems from the disregard for indigenous people's rights, raising concerns about the broader implications for sustainable development and ethical practices in the industry.

Wrecking havoc on the environment cannot have any meaningful gains no matter the value of minerals being dug.

There is no development that can been brought under destruction! Indonesian government should be aware of the destruction behind and try to sort it out.

We cannot afford to sacrifice the rights and well-being of indigenous communities and the health of our planet for the sake of resource extraction.

Nickel mining and processing presents serious ESG concerns. These include air and water pollution, destruction of ecosystems, indigenous rights, GHG emissions, energy use, and working conditions

This is concerning, and Indonesia government should reconsider this decision to avoid any damage that might be irreversible

I think nickel industry should be stopped due to some negative effects for indigenous peoples and also for the love of climate due to contamination

This is alarming. Mining nickel will destroy large tracts of forest land. The indonesia government needs to rethink this decision to avoid harming indigenous communities as well as reversing gains made in the fight against climate change.

This is concerning especially now that it is going to harm the indigenous communities, Indonesian authorities must be aware of this dangers and make the right choices.
