BNP Paribas has decided to stop direct financing for new oil and gas fields

BNP Paribas has taken a bold step by committing to cease direct financing for new oil and gas fields, making it the second-largest global bank to embrace such an eco-conscious initiative, following HSBC's lead.
This inspiring move is poised to encourage other major European banks, such as Societe Generale, Crédit Agricole, Barclays, and Deutsche Bank, to reconsider their involvement in financing the expansion of the fossil fuel industry.
Furthermore, BNP Paribas plans to significantly reduce financing for oil and gas extraction and production by over 80% and 30%, respectively, by 2030.

I think HSBC's action was only thanks to ShareAction putting pressure on them by signing up over 100 shareholders to put a resolution to the AGM

Great decision... To win the fight against fossil fuels it should start with depriving financial resources to those involved in mining and producing
