The French public TV channels France 3 and France 2 have inaugurated a new format for their weather report program and it's meant to answer the climate emergency and better explain the consequences of the climate crisis on the weather. No more old-fashioned weather forecast that only tells us about rain and shine, in this new format the weather report the mission is to make the link between the weather of the day and the upheavals in the climate.
In addition to the classic presentation of the weather, "there will be figures, data, we can come back, for example, to temperature anomalies, to the question of groundwater, or even to explain the winter drought"
Initially, this additional information will mainly be provided in the evening weather reports on France 2 and France 3, respectively lengthened by one and a half minutes and more than two minutes. Eventually, the device will be extended to the bulletins of the day.
"One of my priorities was to say that we could no longer do the weather as we had done since it existed", it's "unbearable that we are delighted that it is 25 degrees in Biarritz in February without explaining why". said Alexandre Kara the director of information at France Télévisions
The public group is also implementing internal rules for its staff: "Except in extreme current events, there will no longer be any use of the plane for reporting on the metropolitan territory. We are going to ask everyone to take the train," announced Mr. Kara. Similarly, the entire editorial staff will take climate training and the emphasis will be on energy savings.

I saw that! And it is so great! Weather forecast shows have such a big audience that they will be able to raise awareness, especially among older people! And the fact that it is a program that is on TV every day can only do good! Let's hope other TV channels follow this example
