U.S. details $6 bln in pledges for climate, ocean investments.
The U.S. State Department revealed $6 billion in financing commitments on Friday for climate change and ocean protection worldwide. The total, which includes 77 separate promises, was first revealed by the United States' climate ambassador John Kerry at an oceans meeting in Panama. These obligations include $3 billion for climate study and resilience. 30 of the 77 pledges, totaling about $5 billion, are focused on combating climate change. The statement from Washington coincides with one from the European Union that details pledges totaling 816.5 million euros ($867.45 million).
