This month’s Textile Exchange Conference in Pasadena, Los Angeles, was an important event in the ongoing transformation of the textile and apparel industry towards sustainable materials and practices, and Recover™ was proud to take part.
The conference provided a crucial platform for collaboration and highlighted critical initiatives aimed at making the textile supply chain more transparent, resilient, and responsible.
As exhibitors and speakers, we had the opportunity to engage with many change makers in the industry. Here are some of our key takeaways from the event:
🔹 Launch of the Preferred Fiber and Materials Matrix (PFMM): The launch of the Preferred Fiber and Materials Matrix (PFMM) was a highlight. This tool will help brands and retailers assess fiber performance across various impact areas. At Recover™, we contributed with our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and positioning us as a low-impact fiber option.
🔹 Materials Matter Standard: Textile Exchange introduced a unified standard to streamline sustainability criteria and improve industry consistency: the Materials Matter Standard. It was first launched as a pilot in June 2024 and will continue to roll out until mid-2025.
🔹 Supply and Demand Challenges: Discussions focused on maintaining a consistent, affordable supply of sustainable materials. At Recover™, we ensure the accessibility of our high-quality recycled cotton fiber with production at scale across various hubs of production.
Our team, including Alfredo Ferre, Debbie Perlman, Fernando Arguelles, and Ana Rodes, showcased a variety of fabric and garment samples made with our recycled cotton fiber, demonstrating its versatility.
Our Head of Sustainability, Ana Rodes, also joined a panel on the subject "What Does Equitable Partnership Look Like in Practice?"
“At Recover™, we believe that a good partnership builds transparent relationships that add value throughout the supply chain—from the producer to the end customer.” – Ana Rodes
