Pres Ruto named in inaugural top 100 climate change makers list
President William Ruto has been named in the inaugural TIME100 Climate list of change-makers in climate action. According to TIME, the list aims to recognise those who are linking climate action and business value, “because we believe progress for the planet will come from the engagement with and leadership by the business world”. Other notable figures on the list include YouTube content creator Mr Beast, singer Billie Eilish, music band Coldplay, filmmaker James Cameron, Rockefeller Foundation President Rajiv Shah, US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry, business tycoon Bill Gates and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley. President Ruto was placed in the Defenders category of the list, with TIME describing him as a “leader on green investment for Africa”. The publication also recognised President Ruto’s achievement in organising the first Africa Climate Summit, which secured $23 billion in funding for green projects on the continent.
