Climate warning

A significant step back and sad day for biodiversity in Europe

A sad day indeed for the biodiversity crisis, weak leadership and too much pandering to lobbying which will impact on us all. There will be no agriculture if there are no insects. Pesticides kill indiscriminately- bees, pollinators and subsequently birds and small mammals, owls and wildlife. 😔🐝🦋🐜🐛🐞🕷🦗🦇🐦🦅🦉🐟 https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2023/1122/1417939-eu-pesticide/

It is heartbreaking to hear that there has been a significant step back for biodiversity in Europe. Biodiversity is essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems and ensuring the survival of various species. It is crucial that we take steps to protect and preserve our natural environment to prevent further loss of biodiversity. We must work towards sustainable practices that promote biodiversity and protect our planet for future generations.

Harnessing natural insect power with proper management can have higher efficacy than resorting to harmful chemicals.

The comment reflects a sense of disappointment and concern about recent decisions in Europe that are perceived as detrimental to biodiversity. The mention of weak leadership and excessive influence from lobbying suggests a frustration with the political processes that impact environmental policies. The statement rightly emphasizes the interconnectedness of ecosystems, emphasizing the critical role insects play in sustaining agriculture and overall biodiversity.

@rotich_kim pesticides that are harmful to living things should be banned and action taken against those who violate the laws.

@rosebellendiritu True. Pesticides, by their nature, can have indiscriminate effects on various organisms, impacting non-target species and the overall ecosystem
