Who is investing in our future? 🌍💔
Activism in the climate justice space stands against governmental inertia. Activists fight ‘for a new system’ against the current ‘system in place’, which has been fueled by profit, power, and corporate greed.
Whilst activists invest their time, energy and lives, governments - especially historical emitters - must now invest financially to safeguard our futures. Developed nations have failed in their $100bn annual pledge for climate adaptation and mitigation by 2020, so we must ask the question: what can we do to force action?
The demand for climate action is being driven by those who desperately need immediate climate justice. Marginalized and underrepresented voices — youth, elderly, indigenous, women, and nonbinary genders - those on the frontlines of climate impacts. And we must celebrate their successes.
💡One of the youth-led campaigns that has been brave enough to demand action is the ICJAO (International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion) campaign. Global youth are demanding accountability and a responsibility shift by governments and institutions to prioritize the well-being of young generations, human rights, and the protection of our planet.
