Fossil Fuels Non-Proliferation Treaty Engage County First Ladies Association In County Leadership on Climate Action.

The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative hosted a special briefing in Kisii, Kenya, to engage the County First Ladies Association (CFLA) on climate leadership and the proposed treaty aimed at limiting fossil fuel use. Over 12 county first ladies and environmental advocates attended to discuss collaborative climate action. The CFLA highlighted existing efforts, including tree planting, promoting cycling to reduce vehicle emissions, and supporting clean cooking solutions to combat deforestation. Leaders like Edinah Alenku emphasized addressing gender-specific impacts of climate change and promoting sustainable housing. The briefing encouraged the CFLA to advocate for policies fostering renewable energy, waste management, and global accountability for emissions.

Engaging the County First Ladies Association in climate action at the county level can greatly accelerate localized responses to climate change, promote awareness, and ensure sustainable growth that benefits the environment, health, and economic well-being of communities.

This initiative is a positive step towards engaging local leadership in addressing climate change. It's important to involve community leaders in efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote sustainable energy solutions.

@walter_lungayi Additionally, when community leaders are involved, it encourages a more inclusive transition, where everyone feels part of the solution and understands the economic and environmental benefits of moving away from fossil fuels.
